Number One

The Number One Community Centre has served the Showfields area of the parish since 1991.  It was set up jointly by St Mark’s Church and Broadmead Church to enhance the quality of life of local residents by sharing the love of God with them in word and action, through practical care and support and services of worship.

In 2003 it underwent a major refurbishment during which the premises of Showfields library were also refurbished and incorporated.

The Centre now offers a wide range of services including:

Pre-school nursery

This is available for local families and is run by experienced and professionally qualified staff.  It is very popular and has recently been  commended during an Ofsted visit.

Children’s and Youth groups

Weekly activities are held for children and for young people.

Young at Heart

The senior citizens have their own very popular weekly club providing an opportunity to meet together, often with invited speakers, and with occasional coach trips to London and other places.
