The Ten Pin Bowling League amongst the other Churches in Tunbridge Wells has been contested for over ten years. We joined in 2009 and have won it 3 times. In fact, we are the current holders. At the moment we are over half way through the present league and are in 3rd place. Unfortunately, in March we could only muster 2 players as 4 people were abroad, so our score was terrible. We have 2 more months to try and catch up with the leaders. We play every month on the last Thursday of the month, unless it clashes with Christmas and Easter. The League is made of teams of 4 people and we have 2 games per evening. There are presently only 3 churches, St Marks, Broadmead and Christ church, and 2 other made up teams from various churches. Every player has a handicap so that the leagues are not dominated by one team. There are two leagues per year each lasting 6 months and the handicaps are changed every league. At the end of each league we have a dinner when we present the cups and other prizes.
For last Thursday’s game we had 6 players, but only the best 4 scores counted. The team consisted of David Lomakin, Dan Jarrett, Paul Avis, Chris Camp, John Wharton and Patricia Wood. Patricia has been getting better and better at bowling and on this occasion she pushed Dan and I into the non scorers. Well done Patricia!
We would love to have more people bowling, male or female, so that we could have 2 teams from St. Mark’s, so if you would like to join us, please contact the office on 01892 526069.
